Barry C. McCarthy Honored for Transformational Leadership
Barry C. McCarthy, President and CEO of Deluxe Corporation, is being recognized with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). This accomplishment puts him in the company of a select group of executives who have contributed to building Georgia’s technology industry. McCarthy is the first person to receive both the TAG Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the TAG Fintech Hall of Fame, affording his impact with regard to technology and fintech industry innovation as well as business.
The award, given at the 2025 Chairmen’s Gala, stands as a tribute to McCarthy and his commitment to enhancing Georgia’s technology scene and fostering industry growth. The event was well attended by leaders of the state’s business and tech communities, honoring individuals and organizations that are influencing what innovation looks like in the future.
Shaping Deluxe’s Transformation into a Leader in Modern Payments
McCarthy has overseen a tremendous turnaround at Deluxe since assuming command in 2018. From the company’s original heritage as a check printing service, Deluxe has become a modern payments and data-driven technology provider. Under his leadership, the company now manages over $2 trillion in digital payments and serves millions of small businesses and thousands of financial institutions across the U.S.
McCarthy’s product-driven vision has not only transformed a company, but also accelerated financial momentum. Deluxe has delivered 11 straight quarters of year-over-year EBITDA growth, as well as continued double-digit operating cash flow improvement. These repeat card numbers demonstrate McCarthy’s focus on driving greater profitability to the organization while fast-tracking its digital transformation.
His tenure also saw the construction of the Deluxe Technology Center in Atlanta. The centre was launched as a key innovation centre for fintech development, data analysis and next-generation payment solutions. It has also led to job creation, community collaborations and further integration into Georgia’s quickly mushrooming technology scene.
